Hospice facility honors volunteers WHITTIER – The Companion Hospice Care held its annual volunteer recognition luncheon April 2. Honored volunteers received pins indicating the amount of hours they have donated. The volunteers provide companionship and support to terminally ill patients and their families. The Companion Hospice Care also is looking for volunteers for the Long Beach area. Training classes are provided. The next class begins Saturday. For more information, call (562) 944-2711. Group to hold annual bike tour NORWALK – The Norwalk Arts and Sports Foundation will hold its annual Spring Spokes bike tour. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m., and there will be three different tours: the 63-mile ride will begin at 8 a.m.; the 25-mile ride will begin 9 a.m.; and the 15-mile ride will begin at 10 a.m. All tours will begin and end at the Norwalk Arts and Sports Complex, 13000 Clarkdale Ave. Entry fee is $45 for adults and $35 for children 12 or younger. Parenting classes begin at school WHITTIER – Whittier Adult School’s “Mommy & Me” classes are beginning this week, Monday through Friday at Whittier Adult School, 9401 S. Painter Ave. Classes available include: “Parent and Infant,” “Parenting the Toddler,” “Parenting a 2-year-old,” “Parenting the Pre-schooler” and “Parenting the Pre-kindergartner.” In all classes, children participate with their parents in activities such as singing, educational games, cooperative play, arts and crafts. The classes also include a discussion about child development and parents have the opportunity to share parenting skills with others. The cost for a 10-week session is $30, both day and night classes are available for all classes. Piano classes given at high school WHITTIER – Piano classes will be offered from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays beginning Thursday at Pioneer High School, 10800 E. Benavon St. in the music room.
